"Advice to Young Artists"- Chapter 1

Chapter 1- In this book, it's part the author's opinion along with actual research. I think that there is some talent involved with art though. It's true that a bunch of it can be learned, but I still think that that some talent is required. I agree with him about trying new directions instead of always going in the same one. There is definitely risk involved, but in the end I think it pays off because then we'll know what directions to not go in anymore and we also find out which ones work better than others. He talks about how good artists are problem finders. I'm not sure this necessarily applies to me because I'm going to be a graphic artist and basically make stuff for other people/clients most of the time, so I'll be solving their problems essentially. But I suppose it applies in some situations, especially as I try to get a portfolio together. Some of the stuff he says about drawing contradicts with what my drawing teacher says, but then again that teacher contradicts himself sometimes.

Movie

Today in class we watched the move Rize. The teacher showed us how the people in the movie had a passion for what they were doing which is important if we want to get anywhere in life. The people in the movie really got into their dancing and that's what kept them from being in gangs. The dances they do were really intense and even the little kids were bringing it more than I ever could. I didn't know little kids could be so coordinated to be dancing like that. Overall it was a good movie.
